I gotta say I am so excited to be finally writing my first fashion related post. Most of you reading this probably don’t know me too well considering I only have posted a few times since starting this blog so I feel like I need to let you know a more little about me. I am obsessed with fashion. Trends, styling outfits, all of it. Even though I have always had a passion for fashion (haha that rhymes) I haven’t always been in touch with my own personal style.
So the real question here is how can you discover your personal style, and more importantly how can you discover it fast… like later this week. Well the first thing I have learned over the past few years of my life is that in order to be in touch with who you are in any sense, style or something completely different, you have to pay attention to what makes you feel good. This can apply to all areas of your life, but today I’m going to be talking about it in regards to your sense of style. Sure you may feel great in that sweater your mom bought you for Christmas last year, and you may feel trendy wearing those new shoes that everyone seems to have, but thats not the point. In my opinion if the clothes you are wearing make you feel good or even great you still haven’t quite hit the jackpot on what your personal style looks like. If you really know your style and are dressing in a way that really expresses your personality your clothing should not make you feel good or great, but like a rockstar.
What I recommend to you is that you go through your closet and try on you clothes and find what makes you feel awesome. Go on Pinterest or other style blogs an look at pictures for inspiration, and find things similar to what clothing you have that makes you feel awesome. Don’t ever be afraid to try new things or to take risks with your outfits because thats honestly the whole fun. And most importantly never let other peoples opinion effect the way you dress. I find that the main reason I couldn’t discover my own unique style is because I was far too busy trying to fit in. Every second you spend trying to fit in you are denying the world of your true self, and preventing yourself from getting to know who you are and what you love. The one thing the world will never have enough of is people who don’t care about fitting in, but instead care about being themselves and doing what makes them happy regardless of others opinions. So my message to you is do whatever feels right! Experiment and take risks with your clothing and wear what other people may consider different because that is the only way you’ll truly be able to discover your personal style.
